TUNIS, July 5 (Xinhua) -- Tunisian Prime Minister Youssef Chahed on Friday banned the full-face-covering veil, or niqab, in all public and government institutions nationwide for security reasons, the official TAP news agency reported.

Chahed has signed a government circular that prohibits the wearing of the niqab in public facilities.

The decision, the first of its kind since the revolution, concerns both employees and visitors.

The Tunisian capital Tunis was recently rocked by double suicide attacks, leaving a policeman and a civilian dead and seven others wounded.

Investigations found out that the two perpetrators of the attacks were wearing the niqab.
