GAZA, Dec. 5 (Xinhua) -- Islamic Hamas movement accepted a new Egyptian vision for achieving a Palestinian reconciliation and ending internal division, a senior Hamas official announced Wednesday.

Khalil al-Hayya, member of Hamas politburo, told a conference held in Gaza in support for Jerusalem that "our Egyptian brothers presented a new vision to end the internal split and achieve reconciliation and meet the factions' requirements."

Al-Hayya didn't give any more details over the Egyptian vision; however, he said that Hamas accepted it although his movement has some reservations on the vision.

"We hope that our brothers in Fatah movement will work with us in order to leave the quarter of vision that causes harms to all of us," al-Hayya said, adding "we have to be all united in order to confront the occupation."

Last month, the Egyptian security intelligence service had separately hosted in Cairo two delegations; one represents Hamas and the other represents Fatah Party of Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas.

The aim of holding the meetings with the two delegations in Cairo was to bridge the gaps between the two rival groups, who have been going through political division since 2007.

"Hamas is still looking forward for a real partnership that reconstructs the Palestinian establishments and Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO) because it is the real address for unity in order to confront all the challenges," al-Hayya said.

All efforts to end 12 years of internal political and geographical division between Fatah and Hamas had so far failed although both had signed and reached a series of agreements and understandings.

They still argue and trade accusations since they reached an agreement in Cairo in October 2017 of handing over power in the Gaza Strip to the Palestinian Authority consensus government.
